Work Like A Dog

By t3ngt3ng at 4:05 PM

First of all why people says work like a dog ar? My dog didn't do any work other than eat, sleep, shit and run amok around the house/room. I think cow is more hardworking no? Shouldn't it be work like a cow? lol..

In the previous post I'd mentioned that I have been working like mad. Mad in handling a bunch of 'muk tao' across the ocean and getting screw by the boss because of their 'good deeds' sigh.

To be honest, I've never expected that I will end up in this field. Since young, my interest is always in Arts and Design. Science to me is a scary subject. I once thought that only nerds will be working in Science field. Well, even not nerds but for sure these people are the smart and hardworking fellas in class. I don't consider myself as smart or either hardworking because I'm not.

After form 5 I actually plan to enter college and get rid of Science from my life, forever. I made the decision of continuing form 6 but not college after a heart to heart talk with my dad. I knew my parents wanted me to enter local university, in fact I wished to. But the thing is I will stick to this field at least for a good 3 to 4 years in uni. Eventually after I graduated I might be working in the same field otherwise what else can I do huh.

So here I am, today. Not that I'm so despair with my current job, but I do feel a little disappointed. Time can never go back, I'd missed the moment of my life where I can choose the path I wanted but I let it slipped away. What I'm achieving now might not be what I'd expected in the past, but the good thing is I do learn a lot throughout this years. I only wish that one day I will have the chance to pursue my dream and please don't be too long because I'm aging day by day lol. Or even better if I don't have to work and somebody pay for my living kekeke..

I hope my brother will not fall into the same path as I am. So I put a lot of effort brainwashing him not to study Science haha. Actually he himself also an Arts person la. The artistic gene runs in the family heh. He will be taking part in Creative Media Award 2009 organized by The One Academy. The competition requires the participant to design a hot air balloon on a piece of paper o.O Nowadays, competitions are getting weirder and weirder or should I say tougher and tougher? I keep my fingers cross that he will win because the winners will get some cool prizes and most importantly, scholarship by TOA. According to him the theme is One Malaysia. If you have any idea please let me know k. Thanks.

Annlakshmi

By t3ngt3ng at 9:23 AM

Due to the request from my beloved pump pump, here goes the update. Actually I'd planned to blog about this since last Sunday but I had been procastinating so....

Anyway work is driving me crazy. More on it the next post.

Last Sunday I was invited to attend a farewell dinner for one of my colleague and his wife (I pulled Adam along though). They are going back to India which I think could be a better choice for both of them. Wish them all the best in everything. Since some of the attendees are vegetarian, I already expected that we will be going to some vegetarian restaurant. Well, I am right :) The restaurant is called Annalakshmi. Before the dinner, I did some research on the restaurant. At least I know what to expect and also to find the map lol. Apparently, Annalakshmi is a very well known vegetarian restaurant, not only among the Indians but also the Chinese. It was located at Midvalley but now they had moved to Brickfields. Couldn't believe that you never bump into this restuarant before while you were shopping at Midvalley huh? So do I.

Some introduction of Annalakshmi which I found from their website.

Annalakshmi is the Hindu Goddess of Food and the adage "athithi devo bhava" meaning "the Guest is God" is the motivating factor. This factor is a tribute to the Goddess of Plenty, Annalakshmi. These ideals, the warmth and the service very soon capture the imagination of diners. Annalakshmi provides food for the soul by providing a good meal to those who walk in.

Annalakshmi has been a household name for more than a decade in India, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. It is largely run through the work of voluntary staff that includes mothers and grandmothers all of whom know what it takes to prepare a wholesome meal with homely love.

It is guided by the inspiration of a monk, Swami Shantanand Saraswathi, disciple of Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh.

Annalakshmi Restaurant

Polished, private and yet utterly unpretentious, its success is the result of its underlying philosophy - serve, love, give. It is a philosophy based on the ancient adage - "athithi dhevo bhava" meaning “the guest is God” manifested through the service of largely voluntary staff - housewives who know what it takes to prepare a wholesome meal and a miscellaneous team of doctors, teachers, technicians, clerks and accountants providing polite, unobstrusive service. With ingredients prepared specially, each item on the elaborate menu reflects the ancient culinary art of India.
Annalakshmi stands out for yet another reason - the array of delectable dishes is served in an ambience that reflects four thousand years of Indian Visual Arts. In every way then - food, ambience and service - it is a restaurant where vegetarian dining is a cultural experience.
Eat as you like, pay as you feel

The food served in Annalakshmi is not prepared by hired chefs with secret French recipes hidden up their sleeves. Instead it is prepared with the care and love by homemakers - mothers, grandparents, sisters and brothers. This filial connection is what makes the concept of Annalakshmi, an unique one.

You cannot put a price on the food prepared by a mother or a wife, and this is why at Annalakshmi you - eat as you like and pay as you feel.

Main entrance of Temple of Fine Arts. The building looks really classy and for some reason I didn't expect this kind of architecture to be seen around Brickfields. All the while I thought Brickfields is like a little Indian town full of traditional arts and temples. We were a little bit afraid to step in at first.

Took picture of the tree outside the building while waiting for the others. They have a really cute wooden mail box. Initially I thought that was a bird cage lol.

This is the entrance of the restaurant. A huge wooden door with cravings. So beautiful! You will see a lot of traditional paintings, artworks and decorations in the restaurant. Which serves a good place not only for good food, but photography. I didn't take any pictures of the interior though because my superior and colleagues were there. Don't want to look like a jakun :/ I will definitely be going back to the restuarant for more dinings and pictures.

Just a short summary of the introduction above, Annalakshmi is the Hindu Goddess of Food and they are motivated by a simple philosophy which is "Guest is God". In Annalakshmi, they gives the best services and food. And the best thing is you eat as much as you want, pay as much as you want. Cool isn't it? Of course don't be a cheapskate eat without paying la. The profit is used for charity so there is a good purpose for us to donate and enjoy the food at the same time.

They have a line of buffet which consists variety of rice (plain rice and rice with herbs something like nasi briyanni), all sorts of curry, vegetables, snacks, putu mayam and many others which I don't know the name, as well as dessert. Besides that, you can also order from the kitchen. The menu change from time to time because their chefs are all volunteers. So it depends on whoever is on duty I guess. Same goes to the buffet. I believe they serve different dishes for lunch.

When I said their give the best service, I really mean it. We were inside the restaurant waiting for some other colleagues. Within 10 minutes we were asked 3 times whether we would like to order some drinks. And mind you, not in an irritated way. They were all smiling and asking politely. We couldn't say no anymore during the third time so we ordered some warm water.

Once everyone is arrived, we ordered our drinks from the kitchen. They have fruit juice, lassi, tea etc. They even told us that watermelon is not sweet that today so they are not serving it. Can you believe it?? I am very sure if it is other diners they will put more sugar only to make it sweet. Thumbs up for their honesty and superb customer service. Since I did a little bit of homework the night before, I knew that their Manggo Lassi is good so I ordered one. We also ordered some capati and another kind of roti which I'd forgot the name. It looks like poori but it is not oily and made of curd which gives a little sourish taste. After that, we off to the buffet line.

Don't be surprise if you couldn't understand the dish names at the buffet. Even my colleague who is from India also unable to understand it lol. I was asking her what is this what is this along the line but she kept saying don't know.. apa ni -.- At the end I just put a little bit of everything on my plate. But I do remember that I took Brinjal Curry which is really really good!!! And some mix vege curry, curd, dhal curry where the dhal really 1 biji 1 biji like kacang putih, spinach puree and papadum.

The food is really delicious and no other mamak can compare to this. Not sure about other Indian restaurant as I didn't go to many of them also. But so far this is the best authentic Indian vegetarian food that I've tasted. Can't believe a carnivore myself can have vege as meal haha.

They serve really good capati. It is fluffy, soft and good enough to eat even without curry. Again, mamak can't serve this kind of good capati. Oh yah, the waiter did mention that they have tandoori and naan also only it is not available that day.

Mango Lassi which doesn't taste too sweet and very refreshing. Must try!

After we finished the food, we took some pictures with the couples. Pictures not with me still waiting for it :( Then the waiter came to offer some tea, massala tea and all. I didn't order since I was already bloated.

It is a very good dining experience at Annalakshmi. My ratings:
Food quality and taste: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Price: 5/5

p.s. Dress code try to avoid short skirts, pants, japanese slippers, sports apparel and sport shoes.

Twit Tweet

By t3ngt3ng at 9:10 AM

After more than year I'm adding back my twitter to the blog. I don't understand why the sudden craze maybe people are getting lazier to update their blog. At least I do -.- For me blogging is just a place to record something and it doesn't give much meaning to me other than that. Come to think about it, putting everything personal online almost equal to going out naked? Hm.. anyway there is always a bottom line. I can never be a blogger for a simple reason my England no good lol. Looking back at what I'd posted in twitter, that put a big smile on my face.

Me is sick

By t3ngt3ng at 9:34 AM

The sick is still haunting me and it gets worse day by day. This morning my throat was ______ (pls insert adverb) pain. The cough is getting bad, neck is pain. Arghhhh...!! I need to see Ah Pat tonight! Everytime after I see him somehow I'm feeling better, even before I take the medication. See how geng is Ah Pat?

Btw, we had a very nice Sunday hanging out with the old timers from OWL. Brings back the good old times where we used to hang out almost every single day after work. I couldn't believe it has been a year since I last seen everyone. Time flies huh. No worries we will have more gatherings upcoming. The next one must include the gang from LNT/OWL/BND hohoho.. Most of them couldn't make it this time because all were 'curi ayam' the night before. Unable to wake up <_<>
During the night we went to Guardian for a quick shopping to grab whatever necessary to heal my sore throat.

While Dr. Lee was checking on the 'ubat' section, my eyes spotted on this super cute Sunplay Skin Aqua Lotion. I believe this is a sunscreen lotion and it contains SPF 50+ PA+++. Don't ask me what's the meaning of all these + but I guess the more + it is the better it will be haha. There is another 1 which has lower SPF but the prices for 10g are the same, which is RM4.88. Obviously I get the 1 with higher SPF lo.
I used it this morning while putting on the skincare. The lotion is very watery and very easy to blend. Most importantly, it doesn't feel sticky at all as it blends very well into the skin. I will use this sunscreen first before I stock up on the Beautymaker's 1. Btw, I will do a short review on the Beautymaker products which I had been using since last last week. Stay tuned. In the meantime, check out my sidebar ngek ngek ngek.

2 Years Anniversary

By t3ngt3ng at 12:03 PM

Update:

A little bit update on the annivesary gift that Adam got me. I was on sick leave last Thursday. Before he left to work, he asked me to close my eyes. I knew he got something for me just that my brain was not fully functional due to the sick so I was unable to guess what present it will be. He is quite predictable you see :p But this time he got me!! Good job good job.. :claps:

When I opened my eyes this is what I was holding.
If you do not know, I don't use any perfume or in the other word I don't have any lol. Not to say I'm allergic or dislikes perfume just that if you ask me to spend probably 200 bucks on it, I rather use the money on other stuff heh. Moreover I don't think I'm smelly :p So this certainly is the best present ever because he knew I wouldn't get it myself. I have to give him another credit for getting this newer 1 instead of the older 1 because I did mention that I prefer this smell better. Nah don't bother which 1 and which 1 cause I can't remember the name either. He said CK is his first and now it has become my first as well :)

So, what did I get for him?? Nothing T_____________T I admit I'm the worst gf ever. I know what I want to get for him just that I don't have the chance to go out alone. Not my fault not my fault!! Well, as usual owe first la. Promise must get the present this weekend.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At last I still decided to go for sick leave. My body needs a good rest due to the overload pressure and all. Definitely need a good break. Although one day may not be sufficed but better than nothing. After taking a long rest I woke up at 11 a.m. and gave mom a call telling her that I'm sick and on sick leave. To my surprise, this is the conversation:

Me: (look for mom's contact and dial) *Ring ring...*

Mom: Hello?

Me: Where are you? (obviously she's at outside)

Mom: Errr... err.... why? (when someone answers a question with a question that sounds fishy)

Me: No la I'm on mc.

Mom: You want to take mc? (so blur)

Me: I'm already on mc la

Mom: OHHhh!! You are at home????

Me: Ya la..

Mom: Ok I'm coming to your place now! (o.O as if we are living in the same taman like that. padahal we are at different state)

Me: Huh??? You very free ar?

Mom: Ya la actually me and your dad is on the way to Genting. Very sien at home. (Geng.. I salute my parents)

Me: Only the two of you?

Mom: Ya la. Never mind I'm coming down to your place now don't want to go genting d. (My parents are so 'lomantic' only two of them go genting)

Me: Oh ok.

----- Conversation End -----

Notice something from the conversation above? My mom never asked me what sick I'm having leh!!! And if you are thinking the reason why she is so excited to find me is because I'm sick, beeepp..WRONG! Make a guess and I'll reveal the answer later -.-

p.s. Adam bought me a present for our annivesary yay! Something unexpected good job finally my bf knows how to surprise me a lil bit :pat on Adam's back:
