We’ve went for the gown fitting session yesterday and it went well (I think). We are probably the easiest customer to deal with. Just thought of sharing my experience with Victoria Wedding Gallery, who knows it might be useful to somebody out there.
A flash back to a few months back, the SA who is in-charged of our booking called me and asked when is our wedding and when we planned to take photos. That was because initially we couldn’t confirm our wedding date. Therefore we couldn’t fix the date for the photoshoot as well. Thank God she called because we had forgotten to inform them that our wedding banquet will be in October and we planned to take photos in July! Right after I told the SA the dates, she quickly find an available slot for us. We would have known that it will be very hard to get a slot last minute, especially we prefer to book Abbey Choo (Victoria’s top PG) for the shoot. If you would like to book Abbey as well, you must tell the SA in the very beginning. Otherwise, they will assign other PG for you. Initially our pre-wedding photoshoot is in July, considering that the BS requires at least 3 months to get the album ready. But they offered us another PG because Abbey is fully booked. After discussing with Abbey, she is so kind to let us have the shoot in August and she said the album will be ready in October before our wedding. Let’s put our fingers cross ok.
So yesterday was the gown fitting session. I did some readings in forums and ask for some opinions of the things that I need to prepare. The main dilemma being what to wear inside for the fitting -.- I know it may sound silly but every bride-to-be will ask this before the fitting lor. It actually depends on the gown that you choose. For fitting, I would suggest to wear nu bra if possible. I wore strapless bra and I think it’s not that comfortable. Since the bra itself has a layer of padding, plus the padding from the gown, it became too thick. I did take off the bra when I tried on some semi see through and bared back gowns. It’s much comfortable. The SA followed me to the fitting room and helped me to wear all the gowns. So if you are shy to be naked in front of the SA, it’s better to wear nu bra.
Always make an appointment prior to the gown fitting session and try to do it during weekdays. You will have all the time you want to try the gowns and to avoid changing of gowns later on if you are in a rush. Most importantly, the SA will be more attentive to your needs. The package that we signed up for includes 7 gowns and 1 Chinese traditional costume. We were asked to choose 2 gowns first, 1 for indoor, 1 for actual wedding day. They have a few types; mermaid, can can and A-line. I suggest checking on their album and picking the gowns that catch your eyes. Try out different types of gowns and see which one suit you the best. It’s very difficult for us to flip through their gowns on the rack and decide which to try because first, they are super heavy and second, we can only see the front design because the tail is too long. They will fold it up to the hanger. At the end, all of them look the same lol. So what we did is we ask the SA to recommend and bring some to try out, after that we couldn’t get any one that we like and we start browsing the album. I guess it is love at first sight. We both like the first gown that I tried on in February when we were signing up the package. Luckily it is still available hehe.
After that, we had to pick 4 evening gowns; 2 for actual day, 2 for indoor. Evening gowns are more colourful but I noticed the colours balik balik dark purple, dark brown, dark blue, maroon or red. I don’t quite like dark colours except black and I prefer very simple design. So I’ve chose 4 bright colours for evening gowns which relatively simple. Lastly is the outdoor gown. We had also eyed on a semi see through gown back then in February. After trying it out, we straight away book it. As for the traditional costume ‘Kua’, the size is standard and the SA didn’t let me try on it. You can choose to replace the Kua with a cheong sam though. Due to my meaty body, I stick to the Kua T____T
Overall, the whole session took 2 and half hours. My justification is the SA from Victoria is very attentive and patience. She kept giving me gowns to try on although we have shortlisted like 7 already and she will recommend the gowns which she thinks suit me the best. The down side is Victoria doesn’t allow photography in the shop. So it’s difficult to recall how the gown looks on me especially after trying so many pieces. The good thing is they don’t mind you trying it over and over again if you’ve forgotten.
4 love notes:
Wow, sounds cool! Can't wait to see the photos when they're done :) Too bad you couldn't take photos of the fittings...:)
Yala.. they used to allow photography wan. Don't know why now they don't edi :( I can't recall any of the gowns that I picked so I'm in panicking mode everyday huhu.. Can you believe half of the gowns I tried on I couldn't zip them? The waist were all freaking small! Like 25" only. The SA said all the brides went on diet and they are very skinny -.-!!
I don't really looking forward to the photoshoot though coz I'm afraid of camera lol

I didn't get it coz out of stock that time +_+ As for the 25" waist, NOT ALL brides went on diet in order to fit in, if u know what i mean :P some just born with it. hahahahaha!!
